My fellow Evangelicals, while we can justly celebrate the apparent 5-4 vote by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, our work does not cease.
Now, the abortion question will be decided State by State. Evangelicals must continue to stand for the protection of life at every point until Jesus Christ returns, and boy, will there be a day of reckoning when He plants His upon the Mount of Olives (Matthew 25).
The early numbers show it is basically a 50/50 split regarding how each State will adjudicate the abortion question. Evangelicals must not rest unless and until abortion is eradicated from the American enterprise en toto.
All life is sacred and worthy of life from the moment of conception and all the way to natural death, no matter the status of the fetus and no matter how the fetus came into existence.
It is sacred because every life is created in the Imago Dei of God. God, and God alone, determines the outcome of every life conceived in the host mother’s womb.
It is deplorable to hear professing Evangelical females declare they have a right over their own bodies. Have they never read “they have been bought with a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20)?
Also, I am extremely disappointed there are at least two alleged Conservative Justices who voted against overturning Roe. [I have since learned Supreme Court Chief John Roberts is undecided so the final vote could 6-3 or 5-4. In fact, one of the theories is the goal of the leak is to pressure Justices to change their vote. I have learned that a Justice can change their vote at any time prior to the vote being announced publicly. Thus, it was not accident the memo was leaked and some have speculated the source came from Justice Sotomayor’s office to pressure Conservative Justices to change their vote].
Roe has facilitated the intentional slaughter of an estimated sixty-three million precious lives. Abortion is the worst genocide perpetrated in human history, and abortion is the number cause of death for AAs. AAs make up 13% of the US population yet account for over 35% of the abortions performed in America.
Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,” says the Lord (Jeremiah 6:15).
I again refer you to Jeremiah 6:15. Most Americans interact with the issue of abortion with either apathy, cowardice or ignorance.
Especially so from allegedly professing Evangelicals. The question of when life begins is not some esoteric, abstract debate between erudite academic elites in some lofty tower.
The question of how society regards life in the womb is the quintessential question for humanity. We get this wrong, and it is all downhill from that point moving forward. God judged the Nation of Israel, so we can be rest assured He will not be silent about America and her duplicity.
How we answer the abortion question reveals much about us as a civilized nation. The sixty-three million lives lost dwarf the casualties from the Holocaust, both WW’s the Civil War, and the genocides from Russia and China combined.
America naively believes there will not be an accounting for how we have brazenly told God to eat it! We believe we have full warrant to eat, drink and be merry with no accountability.
So, while I am cautiously delighted, the work, our work, does not cease. Evangelicals must continue to let their voices be heard, state by state, conversation by conversation.
May the Lord find us doing His will and speaking for those who can not speak for themselves as long as we have breath in our lungs and blood pumping in our veins.
Until then, let me know what you think. As always, keep your hands to the plow and seek to serve for an Audience of One.
With fear & trembling,
